As Jesus re-starts Israel as His chosen people, the priests to the world, He takes His 12 disciples to the mountain, not just to train them personally, but to instill in them the truth that they have the ability to “be fruitful and multiply.” In fact, it is the calling that Israel thus far has missed. And it is the calling that must be heeded if the world is to be restored. How is it then that this ties in with the blessings of the Beatitudes? Why is it that this is what Jesus chooses to end His first, and pivotal, sermon? That’s what we’ll discover as we examine chapters 6 & 7.
