LEVITICUS lesson 2

Although it may seem that weddings these days have gotten out of hand, there really does exist a good reason to pay attention to the many varied details that go into forming a visually stimulating and beautiful ceremony. A vivid memory of the commitment that has been made will serve well to remind us in those days sure to come when we grow tired and are tempted to just live for ourselves. It was in the midst of that beautiful ceremony where we gave our whole heart, our whole being to one person, and for most of us, we felt the goodness of that act deep in our bones. Recalling that can often be just the thing to stop us from de-railing. In a much bigger sense and a profoundly more powerful pull, the priestly ordination ceremony in Leviticus played the same role. And as we understand our own participation in that ceremony, the “joy of our salvation” may just propel us with restorative powers.
