LEVITICUS lesson 1
What is your favorite scent? When you think of that scent, or more to the point, when you smell it, what memory is evoked? It’s interesting to find that most people connect a favorite scent with home – the people and relationships of growing up. With that in mind, it may be very revealing to read in Leviticus that the people’s offerings are a “soothing aroma” to God. Why would that be? Perhaps because what He is actually smelling are the people coming near (the definition of offering), wanting to “come home” to the life God meant for them. Now, that is probably not what you expect out of this book of regulations, but hopefully it foreshadows for you the deeper beauty to be found here.
