LAMENTATIONS intro
Do you remember as a child withholding some trouble or anxiety from your parents? It seems we all have stories of not letting our parents into the whole of our lives. Sometimes it was out of fear of punishment, sometimes out of fear of disappointing. The heart of the matter, though, is that there was some part of us that did not trust we would receive from them what we truly needed. And what we all deeply long for when we are in trouble–whether of our own making or someone else’s toward us–is compassion. Today, as we begin to look into the book of Lamentations we will begin to see that naked honesty before God is a part of celebrating an honest Sabbath.
