JUDGES lesson 6

What would your 10-year-old self spend a gift of $10 on? Not surprisingly our answers tend toward the gratification of our simplest desires – candy, toys, art supplies. The real question is: would the gratification of desires still be the first impulse of receiving a gift? We cannot get away from the truth that our desires, small or adult-size, seem to stubbornly reside in our core. We don’t want to believe that they are any more than passing fancies, so to consider even the possibility that they are what often lead us to make the choices in our lives is a bit of a horror story. Today’s lesson looks at such a story and what God does with it. And in reviewing Samson’s life, let’s put some flesh on him and call him us.
