Do you listen to a certain type of music that is uplifting? Or do you perhaps have a favorite time of day, like the hour of gloaming, just before the sun sets and everything is awash in a soft golden light, that lifts up your soul? Do you have a person in your life that always manages to lift you up? The subject of uplifting seems an odd way to introduce the book of Joshua, a book of action filled with battles. And yet, this is truly the context that Joshua is set in. My hope is that by the end of your studies you will no longer see this as a book of battles, but rather one of encouragement to engage in a life being restored.
