HEBREWS lesson 11
Do you ever notice the many physiological changes that occur in your body when you get “worked up”? Hearts race, breathing quickens, tears may slip out of eyes, your voice or even hands may shake. It’s never really a good feeling, but it is common to even the most “put together” of us. And I would argue that managing those responses is what we mostly try to do, perhaps because a “good Christian” has self-control and we don’t want to be a “poor witness”. So when we get to a passage like that of Hebrews 4 that talks about rest, entering rest, there is a Sabbath rest…we tend to fit it into that mold – a determination to be rested, controlled. Fortunately, I don’t think that’s what God has in mind when He talks of rest. Hopefully you’ll find the freedom He intended as we look closer at this week’s lesson.
