*HEBREWS II lesson 5

Have you ever received a gift that was just a picture or description of the gift to come? Perhaps the gift was too big to wrap or it was  a vacation (also too big to wrap!) or some experience in the future. Would you say that the words/picture/thought that conveyed the gift could be counted as the real thing? Would you be satisfied with it? Would we say that it was the “thought that counts” and never expect to receive the tangible box? I think that most of us being honest would be disappointed and not be able to count the gesture as a gift. A word becoming flesh makes that word real. Saying I love you and never acting as if I do makes that statement empty, false, not real. And so it is if we take the words of God and never receive the flesh of them. God always moves from word to flesh. Hebrews 6 urges us to let Him do so in our lives.
