*HEBREWS II – lesson 1 & 2

What would be the worst time for guests to unexpectedly stop by your home? Most of us first think about our “readiness” to accept guests – is the house clean, do I have food available…but then we begin to think about those times when we ourselves are not at our best: sick, sad, family tensions. All of these “worst times” have one thing in common – we’re not always comfortable with letting people see our ugly sides. Perhaps we believe that if they knew what we were really like they wouldn’t love us, accept us. Yet what really does happen when friends see the shadows of our lives? I would argue that it makes them sigh in relief. “Oh good, she’s just as messy as I am!” And what freedom that gives both of you. This is precisely how we see Jesus’ offer of grace through his role as our High Priest in the book of Hebrews, so let’s take a look.

HI Jill. I’m trying to get in touch with Jill Fecht who wrote an inductive study on Philippians in 2004 — is that you? If so please contact me at Harvest Bible Chapel Davenport Women’s Ministry – I have some questions for you on it. Thanks much.
