EXODUS lesson 0

It’s funny when you ask women about their honeymoon. More often than not they tell you of something that went wrong, or at least completely different than the picture they had in mind for that special time. But rarely is the story told in a negative light. We all seem to understand that the focus of the honeymoon is to bond with one another and the fact that we share a challenging experience gives us a better perspective on the circumstances.

The book of Exodus focuses an awful lot on the experiences of the wilderness. But God’s idea of the wilderness is more of a bonding time with His people, kind of like a honeymoon. The challenges they will experience are meant to be seen as a shared time with Him, forming strong connections and dependence. Yet it is when they (and us) see the circumstances as the main event that they miss the life being offered, the relationship that longs to be deepened.  So, come join us in the wilderness. I can promise you it will be a very fertile place. And you have the choice of what grows there.
