2 TIMOTHY lesson 12

Have you ever had someone surprise you with an appearance that really made an impact on your life? Maybe someone who lived far away drove many, many miles to surprise you just because they wanted to spend time with you. Or maybe someone you didn’t know well surprised you by showing up at a place he knew you’d be just so he could get to know you better. When someone appears in our life intentionally there is behind the event an understanding that you are valuable to them, a very deliberate act of connection. So when we read Paul’s last few paragraphs of his letter to Tim and he mentions Christ’s “appearing” – twice even! – we should take special note. It isn’t a throw away phrase. There is intentionality to it with deep meaning for us, for the world. Let’s see what that might be.
