ROMANS II lesson 1

Has someone ever sacrificed something so that you might benefit? More than likely you can name a string of such people…beginning with parents, spouses and friends. Our natural response to such events almost always gravitates toward some sort of gratitude. But a funny thing happens with our gratitude. We begin to feel the need to pay back the favor. After all, we don’t want things to be unfair. Maybe, though, the pay back isn’t the most healthy response. Perhaps the sacrifice isn’t meant to set up a transactional relationship, but a transformational one wherein we are changed. A space where our relationship can become deeper and more connected. Is that too much of a paradigm shift for reality? Paul doesn’t think so.
