MATTHEW lesson 8
Chapter 14 of Matthew opens up with the strange story of John the Baptists beheading and Herod’s concern that Jesus is John risen from the dead. Not only does our Gospel writer use this incidence as foreshadowing, Jesus himself sees the writing on the wall. How will he continue to minister now? How, indeed, will his disciples continue with him once they understand that death awaits? It is the perfect introduction for Jesus to disciple his disciples…as well as us, in the mechanism that works the grace foundation of the kingdom.
