MATTHEW lesson 10

Little children, lost sheep and church discipline. How is it that we find all three of these subjects in the same passage? It almost seems like an SAT question: which of these items doesn’t belong? And yet, Matthew not only says they all belong, he reinforces it by continuing the thread through the parable of the unforgiving servant. Still we judiciously pull at least one of these items out of its rightful place and context to make ourselves a nice little formula. We do so love our formulas. But can we afford to?
