*HEBREWS II lesson 12

How does it feel to be given a gift when you know there are strings attached? I’m sure none of us is keen to accept it. It feels so wrong, so confining, so not-a-gift! But have you ever yourself given a gift with strings attached? Maybe not verbally, but in all honesty, underneath there is probably often a sense of expectation of some kind. For instance, you expect some kind of thank you, right? And if no thank you is voiced? There niggles in you a little anger, a little resentment, a little judgment. Funny, isn’t it, how subtle these strings can be? I wonder if we ever do that with the great gift of Jesus? That’s what our lesson focuses on today in lesson 12.
