2 TIMOTHY lesson 1
Can you recall a favorite gift that you received but had never asked for? More than likely it was one that connected you to the giver. The best gifts always carry a piece of the giver and remind you of a tender belonging you have in one another. We have a slightly skewed idea of what “gift” really means today as we so often determine for ourselves just exactly what someone will give us, when and how it will be given. Just think of the lists we make for Christmas or birthdays; the registries we make up for weddings. Those are our ideas, our “self” reflected in material objects. What is it that makes us afraid to receive a part of another? And what possibly could all of this have to do with the Gospel…Grace?
